Context: We have many programs that share a first year curriculum but then have different second year curriculums. Students are able to transfer from a one year program in that area to a two year program that had the same first year courseload. On the other hand, students in a two-year program would have the opportunity to exit that program after one year with a one-year credential instead. Scenario: A student has a study permit issued before November 1, 2024 for Administrative [requester] started the program in Fall 2024 with expected graduation in Spring 2025. The student’s study permit is valid until September 2026. In this scenario, they are eligible fora PGWP because they have a valid study permit that was issued before November 1 fora specific program (even if that program is no longer eligible for a PGWP under the fields of study requirement). Question: If that student decides to bridge to the two-year Administrative Professional: Health Services program, wil they and their NEW program remain eligible for the PGWP given that they have “changed programs’ after November 1, 2024? Scenario: A student has a study permit issued before November 1, 2024 for Administrative Professional: Health Services (two year program). They started the program in Fall 2024 with expected graduation in Spring 2026. The student’s study permit is valid until September 2026. In this scenario, they are eligible fora PGWP because they have a valid study permit that was issued before November 1 for a specific program (even if that program is no longer eligible for a PGWP under the fields of study requirement). Question: If that student decides to exit the program after one year to receive a one-year certificate for Administrative Professional, will they and their NEW program remain eligible for the PGWP given that they have “changed programs” after November 1, 2024? look forward to your response and appreciate your insight.
