Lists and rules follow the IRCC category hub (page details 2026-06-22). Healthcare, STEM, trades, education, and transport: at least 12 months full-time (or equivalent part-time) in the last 3 years, in a single listed occupation, in Canada or abroad. Physicians, senior managers, and researchers: the same 12 months in the last 3 years, and the work must be in Canada. This experience does not need to be continuous. French-language proficiency is NCLC 7 in all 4 abilities, not a work-experience tag. Skilled military recruits is not a 12-month occupation tag: Foreign Skilled Military Applicant status, 10 years of continuous foreign military service, a Canadian Forces Recruiting Group offer of at least 3 years in NOC 40042 / 42102 / 43204, and a 2-year post-secondary credential (Educational Credential Assessment if foreign). Ministerial instructions for each round control who is invited.
