This policy explains how SJP Immigration Inc. collects, uses, and discloses personal information when you use Unredacted. It is written to meet Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) for a commercial website. Reading a page or using a calculator does not open an immigration file with the practice. Client files are handled under a separate retainer and are not collected through this Site.

1. What we collect

We do not want your immigration file on this Site. Do not send UCIs, application numbers, passport pages, medicals, police certificates, or other identity documents through Unredacted forms or tools.

We may collect:

  • Technical data the host already logs. IP address, browser, pages viewed, referring URL, timestamps. This is ordinary web-server logging (the Site is hosted on Vercel or a similar provider).
  • Email address and name, if you subscribe. Used to send IRCC-update and tool emails. You opt in. You can unsubscribe on every marketing message (CASL).
  • Email address, if you ask to send a page URL or an existing Unredacted-CRS-Scorecard to yourself. That send is transactional. Resend delivers it. Asking for the page also adds the address to the Unredacted segment. You can unsubscribe on every marketing message.
  • Messages you send us. If you email contact@unredacted.ca or info@sjpimmigration.com, we keep the correspondence so we can reply.
  • Affiliate click data. If you use a deals link, the partner (for example a bank or card issuer) may know you came from Unredacted. We do not receive your credit-file or banking data from them.

First-party analytics. This Site uses Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights, plus Google Analytics 4. Vercel counts pageviews and measures load performance. GA4 counts visits with Google's official gtag. Google is a processor and may transfer that data outside Canada. We do not sell that data. We do not send ATIP requests, GCMS notes, UCIs, names, or calculator inputs as analytics events.

Calculators. CRS and similar tools are designed to run in your browser. Inputs (age, education, language, occupation) are not stored on our servers as a user profile. If that changes, we will say so on the tool and in this policy before we start storing it.

We do not sell personal information.

2. Why we collect it

  • operate and secure the Site
  • understand which pages and tools are used
  • send email you asked for
  • answer a message you sent
  • attribute affiliate referrals
  • improve the tools and the archive of official draw data
  • meet legal duties (tax, CASL records, a lawful request)

3. Draw data and public sources

The draw database and IRCC-update feed are public government information, not your personal information. We cache official JSON and pages so the archive of every published round stays available. That cache is not about you.

4. Cookies and similar tech

We may use cookies or local storage to:

  • keep a page working (for example, a filter you set on the draws table)
  • remember that you dismissed a banner
  • measure first-party Vercel pageviews and performance, and Google Analytics 4 visits

You can block cookies in your browser. The Site may then forget filters between visits. We do not use third-party advertising cookies to follow you around the web.

5. Who we share with

We share personal information only as needed to run the Site:

  • Hosting, email, and analytics processors (currently Vercel for the Site and first-party pageviews; Google Analytics 4 for visit counts; Resend for transactional send-this-page email). They process data on our instructions. Google may transfer analytics data outside Canada.
  • Affiliate partners, only the fact of a click, when you choose a deals link.
  • Professionals we retain (accountant, lawyer, contractor) under confidentiality, if they need it to do their job.
  • Government or a court, if the law requires it.

We do not share subscriber lists with other consultancies. SJP Immigration Inc. may email you about its own services because Unredacted is its trade name. That is the same organization, not a sale to a stranger.

A booked consultation or retainer with SJP Immigration is a separate relationship. That file is not this Site's marketing list.

6. Transfers outside Canada

Some processors (hosting, email, analytics) may store or route data in the United States or other countries. Google Analytics 4 is one of those processors. Those countries may have different access rules, including lawful access by foreign governments. By using the Site or subscribing, you accept that transfer. We use reputable processors and limit what we send.

7. Retention

  • server logs: typically 30 to 90 days, unless we need a longer trail for security
  • email subscribers: until you unsubscribe, then we keep a suppression record so we do not email you again
  • correspondence: as long as needed to finish the thread, then ordinary business retention (usually up to 7 years if it becomes a practice record)
  • official draw cache: kept as a public archive

8. Your rights

Subject to PIPEDA and any legal exception, you may:

  • ask whether we have personal information about you
  • see it
  • correct it
  • withdraw consent for email (unsubscribe)
  • ask us to delete a subscriber record (we will keep the minimum needed to honour the opt-out)

Write to contact@unredacted.ca or info@sjpimmigration.com with the subject "Privacy request." We will respond within 30 days. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).

9. Security

We use HTTPS, access-controlled admin, and processors that encrypt data in transit. No website is perfectly secure. Do not put a client file in a calculator or a comment box.

10. Children

The Site is aimed at adults dealing with immigration status. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe we have, email us and we will delete it.

11. CICC and client confidentiality

CICC rules on client files apply when you have retained SJP Immigration Inc. They do not apply to anonymous use of a public calculator. Do not treat an Unredacted email signup as a confidential mandate.

12. Changes

We will update this policy when the Site's data practices change (for example, if we start storing calculator inputs or adding accounts). The date at the top will change. Material changes will be posted on the Site.
