Visit Canada

Temporary visits use official IRCC doors. This hub does not invent streams and does not collect a UCI or other file facts. A leftover official page is not a prediction that you will be admitted.

Last checked 22 Aug 2026 against live Canada.ca. Fees and processing times stay on those pages.

Start with the official tool

IRCC's check if you need a visa or eTA tool (page details 30 Jul 2026, last checked 22 Aug 2026) asks how you will travel and what you plan to do. The leftover page says the tool is information only. IRCC still assesses any later application.

Official doors on the visit landing

  • Visitor visa. Official page: Visitor visa (temporary resident visa) · official page 26 May 2026 · last checked 22 Aug 2026. IRCC also calls this a temporary resident visa. The leftover page notes that as of 26 May 2026, some Indonesian and Malaysian citizens may apply for an eTA instead, to travel by air.
  • eTA. Official page: Electronic travel authorization (eTA) · official page 5 Jun 2026 · last checked 22 Aug 2026. The leftover page says dual Canadian citizens need a Canadian passport, not an eTA.
  • Super Visa. Official page: Super visa for parents and grandparents · official page 6 Jul 2026 · last checked 22 Aug 2026. The leftover page says you can visit children or grandchildren who are a permanent resident, a Canadian citizen, or a registered Indian. It also says a stay of 6 months or less uses the visitor visa instead.

The same Visit Canada landing (page details 4 Aug 2026, last checked 22 Aug 2026) also lists transit through Canada and business visitors. Those are official IRCC doors, not extra site pages. Transit is not a visit. A business visitor is not entering the labour market.

In my view, the useful first move is the official check tool, then the one leftover door that matches the trip. Do not treat a Super Visa page as a visitor-visa shortcut, and do not treat an eTA as a visa.
