Students who have maintained status and possess a study permit which names a specific designated learning institution (DL!) may continue their studies at that same institution without interruption. However, a student that has applied for a new study permit in order to transfer to a new DLI must await the approval of their application before commencing studies at the new institution. Please note, IRCC has issued a grace period for students impacted by the timing of the new regulations, specifically for those accepted to a new DL! for the winter/spring semester of 2025. Knowing that a move from an undergraduate degree at the same institution triggers a need fora PAL and a new study permit application, under what circumstances does the student (if any) have implied status after they apply for the new study permit to begin studies at the next level (again, same school). Do they for example, have implied status if they have the name of the specific institution on their old study permit and it hasn't yet expired by September? What if the old study permit has the general (province) institution on it? Many thanks
