Good morning, | hope this message finds you well. | am writing to seek clarification regarding the appropriate timeline for submitting a study permit extension/renewa application while residing in Canada ‘The Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR) do not specify how early an individual can apply for a study permit extension/renewal while in [requester] immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) webpage recommends applying for an extension at least 30 days before the current study permit expires, considering that the current processing time for a study permit extension is approximately 133 days (about 4.5 months), | would lke to clarify i tis acceptable, under IRCC policy, to apply for study permit extension/renewal five to six months in advance of the study permit expiry date? Given this application processing period, there is an important practical concer about relying solely on maintained status.
