Thope you are doing well. Could you please clarify the following inquiry This individual was born in Canada and held Canadian citizenship. While they cannot recall the exact details, they believe that they may have renounced their Canadian citizenship in 1973. They do not live in Canada anymore. They have no documents or other information in connection with their renunciation. We had submitted an Access to Information and Privacy (“ATIP’) to request any information on his citizenship renunciation application to understand his current Canadian citizenship status, however, we were informed that through the ATIP request that IRCC does not keep records for Canadian born individuals. Do you know/f it is possible to obtain the background notes and/or records on individuals who have renounced their Canadian citizenship? Alternatively, could you please advise to which office or through which channels, other than applying for a proof of citizenship, we may obtain any information relating to citizenship renunciation by Canadian born individuals?
