The Updated temporary public policy for nationals of Iran in Canada as temporary residents (TPP) is intended to support Iranian nationals who arrived in Canada on or before February 28, 2025 and who have maintained their valid temporary resident status. Having said that, the TPP does not stipulate that the foreign national must have continuously remained in Canada since their arrival on or before February 28, 2025. If an individual first entered Canada on or before February 28, 2025 and holds valid temporary status, they would still be eligible to apply from within Canada under the updated policy, regardless of whether they had left Canada and subsequently re-entered after their original date of entry. An individual applying for a work permit, a work permit renewal, or for a study permit under this TPP must be in Canada with valid temporary resident status at the time of application and when a decision is rendered. Continuous physical presence in Canada is not required to maintain eligibility. In addition to any supporting documents provided by the client with their application, IRCC leverages the Entry/Exit Program with the Canada Border Services Agency to confirm whether clients meet the eligibility criteria of the public policy. * *meet eligibility and admissibility requirements for an open work permit Question: ‘one of the requirements for this extended PP is: avrived in Canada on or before February 28, 2025. Does it refer to initial entry or recent entry? Scenario: fan |ranian national in the past (before February 28, 2025) been admitted and arrived/entered Canada in any status and left [requester] that person re-enters Canada and after February 28, 2025 and still in Canada with valid temporary resident status, is that person eligible to apply for an open work permit? | mean this person once was/arrived in Canada before February 28, 2025. (No doubt that other eligibility ctiteria should be met as well). The concerned person is neither PR nor Canadian Citizen Please clarify it and advise. Sincerely.
