The Immigration Representatives Mailbox can only reply to general immigration program or policy related enquiries and therefore no case specific responses can be provided. © *Ingeneral, students who are continuing their original program for which they received a study permit prior to November 1, 2024, are not required to meet the new field of study requirements when applying for a study permit extension. Therefore, students who changed their program before November 1, 2024, and need an extension to complete the same program of study are still eligible for a PGWP, and their eligibility is not subject to the new field of study requirements, © * Ifa student applies for a study permit extension on or after November 1, 2024, for the purpose of starting anew program, they must meet the updated field of study requirements. © * Program stacking allows students who complete two PGWP-eligible programs of at least months each at a PGWP- eligible Designated Learning Institution (DLI) within two years of the completion of the first program to combine these programs when determining PGWP eligibility. Completing two years of study through stacked PGWP-eligible programs, such as two consecutive eight-month certificates from PGWP-eligible DLIs, will make a student eligible for an up to three-year PGWP. © * Fora student who completed an eight-month certificate program and then plans to start another eight-month certificate in January 2025, if they apply for a study permit extension on or after November 1, 2024, as long as they pursue the same studies (i.e., the second program) as the study permit for which they applied prior to November 1, 2024 and complete their studies at PGWP-eligible DLIs within 2 years of the completion of the first program, they can pursue program stacking and remain eligible for a PGWP without the new field of study requirement for both programs.
