If the foreign national requires an extension for a program they changed prior to November 1, 2024, the field of study is not required. IRCC recommends that the foreign national submit proof of the change of program with their application. The onus is on the applicant to satisfy the officer that they meet all eligibility requirements. If the foreign national completes a program and starts a new program after November 1, 2024, they must meet the field of study requirement for that new program. Ican see that the response you gave me has been uploaded to this webpage, which | appreciates" "nnn Exemption note: For study permit extension applications used to complete the same program of study as the study permit application made before November 1, 2024, there is no field-of-study requirement for the PGWP.

However, the following two statements on the IRCC website seem to conflict with the above information

1. 1. The first is found on this website’ Field of study requirement: Ifyou graduated from a program that you started on or after November 1, 2024, you must have graduated in an eligible field of study. ¥ Ifyou graduated from a program that you started before November 1, 2024 You don’t need to meet the field of study requirements 2. 2. The second statement is on this webpage: You don’t need to meet the field of study requirement if one of the following applies to you: * You submitted your PGWP application before November 1, 2024, regardless of level of study. * You graduated from a PGWP-eligible flight school * You graduated with a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or doctoral degree. + You graduated from any other program of study you started before November 1, 2024. © Ifyou changed your program and then completed it, you must provide proof that you changed programs before November 1, 2024. If you don’t meet one of the exceptions above, use the table below to check if your program is eligible for a PGWP.

Can you please confirm what is the deciding factor in whether a program is exempt from the eligible field of study

requirement:

* * Whether the student is completing the same program of study as the study permit application made before November 1, 2024 OR * Ifthe student is completing a program that they started before November 1, 2024

Based on the information we received from you in November and the link provided at the top of this e-mail, we have

many students who are applying for study permit extensions after November 1, 2024, under a different program of

study than the study permit they applied for before November 1, 2024, and have been made to understand that their study permit extension application must meet the field of study requirements applicable to their study program in order to be eligible for a PGWP.. Is this no longer true?
