[requester] you for your email correspondence to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s Immigration Representatives
mailbox. We appreciate your patience.
Question:
1. As per IRC news release dated December 23, 2024: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-
citizenship/news/2024/12/canada-takes-action-to-reduce-fraud-in-express-entry-system.htm| - "As part of ongoing efforts to
prevent and reduce fraud, the Honourable Marc [requester] of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, announced that
Express Entry candidates will no longer receive additional points for having a job offer. This temporary measure will reduce
fraud by removing the incentive to illegally buy or sell labour market impact assessments to improve a candidate’ chances of
being selected to come to Canada as a permanent resident. This change will come into effect in spring 2025."
There is mention of not getting additional points for a job offer and at the same time the context provided here is with
regards to LMIAs which has created confusion on whether this change is intended to be applied to TFWP LMIA based job
offers or will this change also apply to IMP LIMA-exempt job offers and will it affect both 50 pointer and 200 pointer job
offers? Can you please provide more clarity on what is the target of this change?
Answer:
Please be advised, that currently, a job offer can be used for program eligibility and/or for additional points in E€'s
Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). As part of ongoing efforts to prevent and reduce fraud, job offer points will be
removed from the CRS, with anticipated implementation in Spring 2025. Further details will be available when the changes
come into effect
Question:
2. In your response to an IMM Reps query "IRCC REP-2024-1152" - it was mentioned that "The applicant may claim concurrent
work experience for two full-time jobs: one in Canada and one performed remotely outside Canada.” Does it matter where
the applicant gets paid? Is it acceptable to have the salary credited in an overseas financial institution or is it necessary to
have it credited in a Canadian financial institution for the remote work done to claim points for foreign work experience?
Answer:
There is no requirement for eligible foreign work, remote or onsite, to be remunerated via specific financial institutions: the
pay may come through a Canadian or a foreign institution.
Please be advised that the assessment of an application is conducted on a case-by-case basis, taking into consideration the
specific circumstances and the supporting documentation available to the officer. Its the applicant's responsibility to
provide sufficient documentation to demonstrate that they meet the requirements.
We trust that this information will be of assistance to you.
