Please note that the post-graduation work permit (PGWP) can only be extended in cases where applicants did not receive

their PGWP for the full duration that they are eligible due to their passport validity, In this case, upon the renewal of their

passport, they can apply to receive the full validity of their PGWP.

The interim work authorization letter allows foreign nationals who meet the requirements to continue working until a final

decision is made on their work permit application.

f the PGWP application is refused, applicants must stop their work immediately.

Dear [requester], ; My question relates to the interim working authorization given to candidates eligible for a PGWP extension. According to the IRCC website, the interim working authorization allows these candidates to work while gathering their documents and submitting their applications, with the hope they will restore their status The interim working authorization was given for a generous period of time. The facts of the question are: 1. Candidate had their original PGWP valid until November of 2022 2. Submitted their application for the PGWP extension in October of 2022 3. Maintained/Implied status established 4, PGWP extension application was refused on February 28, 2023 5. The interim working authorization from the letter from IRCC was granted until May 31, 2023 Question: 1. Does that interim working authorization still apply to this candidate until May 31, 2023? Or would it expire when the PGWP extension was refused on February 28, 2023? Thanks for your time Yours truly, 00488
