Question:
| am looking forward to clarification for the following scenario
Would students who started at a new post-secondary DLI in September 2024 but who did not complete the DL transfer
process at that time (either because they were coming directly from secondary school and were unable to or because they
transferred between post-secondary DLIs and were unaware of the correct DUI transfer process) now be considered non-
compliant under the new regulations? Please note these students have a valid study permit (expiring in 2027) with no DLI
stated.
Would these students now be required to discontinue their in-progress studies?
Are they required to apply for a new study permit?
Answer:
As per the IRCC website, if a student changed DLI prior to November 8, 2024, they may study at their DLI with their current
study permit as long as they still meet their study permit conditions.
However, if these students make subsequent DLI changes, they will need to apply for a new study permit extension as per
the new regulations that came into force on November 8, 2024.
Thank you kindly,
