QUESTION: My name is [requester] Consultant My Representative ID on IRCC's Authorized Representative Portal is have a question regarding the possibility of an individual studying a short-term course (less than six months in duration) in Canada, either full-time or part-time, while holding a valid Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). J understand that under the public policy announced by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRC), certain work permit holders are permitted to study in Canada without requiring a separate study permit. Specifically, individuals who applied for their work permit on or before June 7, 2023, are allowed to study without a study permit until the earliest of the following dates «© The expiry date of their work permit, or + The expiration of the public policy (June 27, 2026, or earlier if revoked). However, my question pertains to individuals who applied for their PGWP after June 7, 2023. Additionally, | acknowledge that under section 188(1)(c) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR): + A foreign national may study in Canada without a study permit if the course or program of study is six months or less in duration and will be completed within the period authorized for their stay in [requester]: Consider an individual who arrived in Canada as an international student in May 2022 and completed a two- year diploma program (from a public DLI) from May 2022 to August 2023. After completing their studies, they applied for and received a three-year PGWP, valid from January 2024 to January 2027. This individual has not left Canada since arriving in January 2022, instead, applied for their PGWP from inside Canada. 000580
