Specifically, individuals who applied for their work permit on or before June 7, 2023, are allowed to study without a study permit until the earliest of the following dates: © * The expiry date of their work permit, or © * The expiration of the public policy (June 27, 2026, or earlier if revoked). ‘Scenario: Consider an individual who arrived in Canada as an international student in May 2022 and completed a two-year diploma program (from a public DLT) from May 2022 to August 2023. After completing their studies, they applied for and received a three-year PGWP, valid from January 2024 to January 2027. This individual has not left Canada since arriving in January 2022, instead, applied for their PGWP from inside Canada. ‘Question: Can this individual undertake a short-term program (less than six months in duration) while holding a valid PWP without violating the conditions of their work permit or in board sense without violating the conditions of IRPA/IRPR imposed on PGWP holders.
