If student is being paid for hours they did not work, that would be paid vacation and does count towards the limit. Please note that, as of November 8, 2024, students are allowed to work off campus up to 24 hours per week without a work permit. Thank you,

Since they haven't done any extra work to earn that pay? Thad a quick look at the definition of work (below), and since they haven't actually worked any extra time, | assume it does not count as ‘time’ worked?

Work" is defined in the Regulations as an activity for which wages are paid or commission is earned, or that competes

directly with activities of Canadian citizens or permanent residents in the Canadian labour market. For example, if a student worked an 8 hour shift but got paid for 10 hours as part of the statutory holiday, can you please confirm that it only counts as 8 out of 20 hours? Thanks!
