Question Ihave a question concerning the changing schools at the post-secondary level for students in the following scenario

4. 1. Students changing DLIs for Winter 2025 and applied for their study permit extension prior to November 8, 2024.

2. 2. No decision yet on the study permit extension application.

3. 3. Current study permit was valid upon submitting the study permit extension application, but has since expired.

4. 4. The requirements currently posted on the changing schools or program webpage state that - If you were accepted to anew DL for the Winter or Spring 2025 semester, point # 3: “Have a study permit that remains valid and that doesn’t have the DLI name printed onit.”

Would students in this situation be eligible to begin their studies at the new DLI for Winter 2025?

Please consider the information provided as general program guidance and not a directive for case-specific enquires.

If students changed DLIs before Nov 8, 2024, they can keep studying at their DLI with their current study permit as long as they still meet their study permit conditions. If the student would want to change DLIs again, they will need to get a new study permit by applying to extend their current one.

Astudent can only start studying at their new school while waiting for a decision on their study permit extension application if they meet the following criteria:

© * They stayed in Canada since they received their letter of acceptance (LOA) from the new DLI and

* * They continue to meet the conditions of their previous study permit and
