RESPONSE According to the IRCC guidelines, ifstudents are extending their study permit while staying at the same Designated Learning Institution (DLD and at the same level of study and/or they are changing their program of study but remaining at the same DLI and same level of study, a PAL is not required. Ifyou are changing both your program and year of study, a PAL is not needed if you are staying at the same DLI and same level of study. However, ifthe change involves moving to a different level of study (¢.g., from undergraduate to graduate), a new PAL, might be required The new financial requirements apply to all study permit extensions, regardless of when the student received their inital study permit. This means that even if'a student received their intial study permit before the new financial requirements were introduced, they must meet the updated financial criteria when applying for an extension. 00924
