Question:
We are writing to request guidance on whether the issuance of a second work permit will require the first employer to
change the terms and conditions of the job offer.
Scenario:
Visa exempted foreign national (FN) has a work permit in Canada to work for a Canadian subsidiary of a MNC valid for
three years. Head office of MNC needs the FN to also take on a role in a second Canadian subsidiary. We understand
that the FN can apply for the second work permit at the POE as they still have the one year out of the three years full-
time employment with the foreign [requester], even though the FN will be performing the same duties and has
the same job title, the number of hours of work and wage indicated in the offer of employment submitted by the
original Canadian subsidiary will changed.
Questions:
* ‘isthe FN required to apply for two new work permits at the POE to ensure that the original Canadian
employer is in compliance?
© * If not, is there a way to amend the offer of employment submitted in the employer portal which has been
matched?
Response:
Please note that this service provides guidance and not case-specific advice.
With regards to your question, a client would need to apply for a new work permit and the employer will need to
submit a new job offer. In the job offer, the employer can list multiple locations that they want the temporary worker.
We hope that this information is of assistance.
Thank you kindly,
