Question:

lam seeking clarification regarding Section 25(1)(a) of the Ministerial Instructions Respecting the Express

Entry System (Current as of August 9, 2024).

Question:

Can an applicant accumulate foreign work experience and Canadian work experience concurrently for

Express Entry points?

Specifically, if a temporary foreign worker residing in Canada on a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)

is employed ina TEER 1 occupation in Canada and simultaneously holds a remote (virtual) job offer from

an overseas employer (in a TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupation), would this individual be eligible to claim foreign

work experience points under Sections 23 and 24, provided all other requirements for foreign work

experience are met—except for the physical location being outside of Canada?

Answer:

Remote work for a foreign employer while residing in Canada may be eligible as foreign work experience if it

meets all the requirements.

The applicant may also claim concurrent work experience for two full-time jobs: one in Canada and one remotely.

Depending on the applicant's qualifications, the system may grant them Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)

skill transferability points for foreign work experience and CRS core points for Canadian work experience at the

same time

The system will not grant additional Federal Skilled Worker program selection criteria points for work experience

in excess of 30 hours per week.

Please note that the system does not currently capture remote work. Please make sure to select the
