QUESTION:
I was wondering if' you could clarify when applications for the PNP Candidate Open Work Permit (hups/vww,canada ca/er/immigration-refiigees-citizenship/services/ivork-canada /permit/open-work-permit-worker=withe support-letter.html) were accepted until?
As I do see that the website was updated on February 12, 2025 to signal that Applications are now officially closed. Could your office please confirm whether applications submitted between January 1, 2025 to February 11, 2025 are to be eligible for consideration and processing?
Applicants and the general public have previously seen media reports and some government statements published around January 20, 2025 regarding IRCC’s extension of the subject PNP Candidate Work Permit policy to December 31, 2025, but now it seems that the extension is no longer in place. Can you please clarify when the extension policy was revoked and which dates applications for under this policy would no longer be eligible?
We are inquiring, as one of our clients had submitted his application on January 25, 2025 under this policy. We are worried whether or not his application will be accepted for processing based on the policy directive.
RESPONSE:
The Temporary public policy to facilitate work permits for prospective Provincial Nominee Program candidates expired on December 31, 2024. Consequently, intake closed on December 31, 2024, and applications received after this date are not eligible. To have been eligible in 2024, a client must have submitted a letter of support from either [requester], or [requester] cannot comment on media publications related to this measure. However, there was a technical issue that led to information being inadvertently released on IRCC’s web pages that have since been removed. The webpages currently state that the public policy is closed to new applicants: Open work permit for foreign workers with a support letter fiom a province or territory.
