Per the news release, Employers and temporary workers to benefit from family work permits to address labour shortages - Canada.ca, this was intended to be a temporary 2 year measure. On September 18, 2024, Minister Miller announced forthcoming restrictions to open work permits for spouses: Strengthening temporary residence programs for sustainable volumes - Canada.ca.
