‘Following the expiry on February 28, 2025 of the Temporary public policy for nationals of Iran in Canada as

temporary residents, the Honourable Mare [requester] of Immigration, Refiigees and Citizenship has approved a new temporary public policy to support Iranian temporary residents in Canada who came to visit or spend time with family, study or work temporarily, and who wish to prolong their stay.

These special measures facilitate continued access to initial study permits, open work permits and work permit renewals from within Canada for Iranian nationals who arrived in Canada on or before February 28, 2025. However, effective March 1, 2025, these applications are subject to standard application fees.

These special measures take eflect on March 1, 2025 and expire on February 28, 2026.
