Everything that I find online says that ‘minors’ are eligible, but I can't find anything to confirm whether an 18- year-old in Canada with a SP could extend their stay as a student, I am feeling like they will need to apply for an open WP instead. \sb240Suggested RESPONSE Once an international student reaches the age of majority (18 or 19 years oki, depending on the province or territory), they are no longer considered a minor under [RCC guidelines on minor students. While minor children of temporary residents (such as work permit holders) can study without a study permit, this exemption ends when they reach the age of majority. Ifthe 18-year-old already holds a valid study permit, they may apply from within Canada to extend their stay as a student by submitting a study permit extension application before their current permit expires.
