Please see our response to your question. 1) "the study permit must be still within its validity period and not expired" Please recall that permits are made invalid under R222 in terms of DLI switches (by graduating early or by leaving an unfinished program at another DLI early). Are we referring to the expiry date on the study permit OR the expiry due to R222 scenarios? This refers to R222 scenarios. In one case (R222 invalidity scenarios), a permit is statutorily no longer valid once a student is no longer at their previous DLI or 90 days after graduation, and the confusion is how could it be valid for DLI switches. In the other (permit expiry date not yet reached), the permit could be used under the provisions of "remain valid” in the DLI switch. 2) "signifying that the student is allowed to stay in Canada legally for the duration of their program, or until the permit expires, provided no violation occurs” Is this referring to the new program at the new DLI? If so, is the condition that they can study at that new DLI until the permit expires based on the answer of #1, provided no violation occurs? A student must study at the DLI name indicated on their study permit. A student who completed a post-secondary level program at DLI A and then wishes to start a new post-secondary program at DLI B, will need to apply to extend their current study permit to start their studies at DLI B. No violation occurs as long as the student is actively enrolled to study or has applied to obtain a new permit. Study permit holders must ensure that they apply for a new study permit in advance so that they can start their studies at the new DLIin time. 001199
