Ifa student has a secondary school study permit and itis stil valid, can they transition into post secondary studies and attend University with the same study permit or do they need to apply for a new study permit? If they need to apply for a new study permit, can they attend university while on maintained status while the application is in process?

Starting November 8, 2024, you must be enrolled in the designated learning institution (DLI) named on your study permit.

A student moving ftom secondary to post-secondary levels, needs to get a new study permit by applying to extend their current one to attend a post-secondary school. If they finish their secondary school studies early, their study permit will no longer be valid 90 days alier they complete their studies, regardless of the date that is shown on their study permit.

Ifa student applied after November 8, 2024, they would need to obtain a new study permit before starting their program.
