Question:

1. Inthe Express Entry system, if an applicant is awarded points for arranged employment and loses their job offer after submitting their Express Entry PR application, do they lose the points they were awarded for their job offer?

2. If they do lose the points they were awarded and as a result their score is now below the threshold score for the round of invitations under which they were invited, will their PR application be refused?

3. In December 2024 it was announced that there would no longer be CRS points awarded for arranged employment. Does this change apply only to LMIA-based job offers such that an individual on an employer specific, LMIA-exempt Work Permit in a NOC 00 role would still receive 200 points for having a qualified offer of employment (assuming they have been working for the company for 1 full year)?

Please be advised that we are not able to answer case-specific enquiries or intervene on a decision made by a delegated officer, as we must adhere to appropriate procedures. Case-specific enquiries should be routed via the IRCC Web form.

1. & 2. In the Express Entry system, if an applicant is assigned Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points for arranged employment and loses their job offer after submitting their application for Permanent Residence, their CRS score for arranged employment will not be reduced.

In this situation, however, those who applied under the Federal Skilled Worker program will lose selection criteria points awarded for arranged employment which may result in the refusal on the application

3. As part of ongoing efforts to reduce fraud, job offer points will be removed from the CRS, with anticipated implementation in Spring 2025. Further details will be available when the changes come into effect.

Please be advised that the assessment of an application is conducted on a case-by-case basis, taking into consideration the specific circumstances and the supporting documentation available to the officer. It is the applicant's responsibility to provide sufficient documentation to demonstrate that they meet the requirements.
