1. Ifa student changes their program of study after entering Canada but remains at the same DL and applies for a study permit extension after November, would this affect their eligibility for the PGWP under the new criteria announced in November 2024?

2. Ifa study permit extension application is withdrawn before processing, does it still impact the grandfathered status of the student’s study permit?

Response: Students who changed their program before November 1, 2024, and need an extension to complete the same program of study are still eligible for a PGWP, and their eligibility is not subject to the new field of study requirements. If the student changed from their original program prior to November 1, 2024, IRCC recommends that the student submit proof of the program change when submitting their application.
