Please see our response to your question: Question: I've been receiving a lot of questions from students who are in optional co-op programs. In those programs, students typically get accepted into their program after completing 3 semesters Some students started their program before the new PGWP rule (field of study requirements) came out, however, they are now accepted into a co-op stream and they need to submit a study permit extension since the co-op stream requires 3 additional semesters. The issue is their program is not considered PGWP anymore. In this case, if they submit a study permit extension application to do their co-op placement (for example from Architectural Technology to Architectural Technology co-op), will it be considered a program change and will the field of study requirements apply to them? Response: Ifa student is studying under the same program of study for which they applied for a study permit before November 1, 2024, they do not need to meet the field of study requirements. Students who choose a concentration within the same program of study also do not need to meet the field of study requirement.
