However, applicants may leave Canada while their application is pending, or between applications. Continuous physical presence in Canada is not required to maintain eligibility. In addition to any supporting documents provided by the client with their application, IRCC leverages the Entry/Exit Program with the Canada Border Services Agency to confirm whether clients meet the eligibility criteria of the public policy. Please note: A foreign national who leaves Canada no longer holds valid temporary resident status and must present themselves at the port of entry where a decision will be made whether to permit re-entry as a temporary resident. Visa- required foreign nationals who leave Canada and wish to come back must hold a valid temporary resident visa to be able to travel back to Canada. Hello, I hope you are doing well. | am writing to seek clarification regarding the eligibility criteria under the extended public policy for Iranian nationals in [requester] name is » RCIC- If an Iranian national arrived in Canada on or before February 28, 2025, obtained a work permit under these special measures, and later left Canada for a few months before returning, are they still eligible to apply for anew open work permit under this policy? Or is continuous physical presence in Canada required throughout the entire duration to maintain eligibility? Since they have now returned to Canada, | would appreciate guidance on whether they can submit a new application or if their previous departure affects their eligibility.
