Please see our response to your question: Question 1; If the first program does not meet the Field of Study requirement, but it was completed within the duration of student's initial study permit, and the student applied for an extension after that to start a new program, will the first program be considered on the PGWP length? RESPONSE; Each program will be assessed separately against the field of study requirements. Please note that all graduates of bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and doctoral degree programs, as well as graduates from PGWP- eligible flight schools, are exempt from the field of study requirement. For the first program, since the student applied for their corresponding study permit before November 1, 2024, this program would not need to meet the field of study requirements to count towards their [requester] student applies on or after November 1, 2024 to start a different program, this program would need to meet the field of study requirements to count towards the length of their [requester] the student applies for a study permit on or after November 1, 2024 to complete the same program of study as their initial study permit, then the program does not need to meet the field of study requirement. Question 2: If the student complete 2 programs that do not meet the Field of Study requirement, but he completes within the duration of the initial study permit, will both programs be considered on the PGWP length? RESPONSE: Ifa student completes 2 programs using a study permit that they applied for before November 1, 2024, then neither program needs to meet the field of study requirement to count towards the PGWP length. Question 3; If a student informed IRCC about the change of DLI's before November 1, are they covered by this exception, as IRCC received the information about the change of program before the cutoff date? RESPONSE; The field of study requirement is applicable to a program based on the study permit application date and level of study. If the student applies for a study permit on or after November 1, 2024 for a new program, then it would be subject to the field of study requirement.
