Ifyou have case specific questions about a file, you are encouraged to submit the |RCC Web form. Please see our response to your question: For the purposes of the International Students Program (ISP) regulations, there is no distinetion between “enrolled”and “inserit”. These regulations are designed to ensure that students stay actively engaged in their studies, except during scheduled breaks or approved leave, which is limited to a maximum of 150 days. Regulation 222(1), states that: © 222 (1) A study permit becomes invalid upon the first to occur of the following days: (a) the day that is 90 days afier the day on which the permit holder completes their studies, (a.1) the day on which the permit holder is no longer enrolled at the designated learning institution that is named in the permit, other than as a result of completing their studies.

b) the day on which the permit is cancelled under section 243.2; or

(©) the day on which the permit expires, ‘You mentioned, for example, that a student with an active program was registered for Pall 2024 but did not register for Winter 2025, As you know, a student may take an authorized leave from their studies, but such leave must always be approved by the institution and cannot exceed 150 days. Students who take an unauthorized break are in violation of their study permit conditions. According to the website, if IRCC becomes aware that a student has failed to meet these conditions, they may require the student to leave Canada... This could impact the outcome of any future applications, and the student may need to wait six months before reapplying for a study permit, visitor visa, or work permit, Additionally, if a student is unenrolled (withdrawn) by the Designated Learning Institution (DL) due to unauthorized leave or other academic reasons, their study permit will become invalid. ‘We hope these explanations offer further clarification regarding the regulations. Thank you kindly,
