We understand that the Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) only applies to students applying for study permits (unless they meet

an exemption). However, we have seen a few cases where students already hold a study permit and later apply to only renew

their TRV at CPC-Ottawa ftom within Canada, and they are being requested to get [requester] you please confirm if students

who already hold a valid study permit and are just renewing their TRV ffom within Canada, need to attach PAL with their

application? Or are they exempt?

Approved Answer:

Study permit holders who are applying ftom within Canada for a new TRV need to provide a copy of their PALITAL, ifthey

required one to obtain their study permit, Clients who were exempt from the PAL/TAL requirement when they applied for their

study permit must provide proof of their exception when applying for a new TRV.
