Iranian nationals in Canada that meet all the eligibility requirements under the Temporary public policy for nationals of iran in Canada as temporary residents - Extension can apply for a further extension of their temporary resident status, an open work permit and/or a study permit on or before February 28, 2025. There is no requirement for the client to wait until they are within a certain period before the expiry of their temporary resident status in order to apply for an extension under the public policy. Clients who apply for an extension of their status before it expires will maintain their existing status while their application is processed. The validity period of an open work permit or extension issued under these measures is up to officer discretion but may be issued for a period of up to three years, or until passport or biometric validity, whichever comes first. As long as the client is an Iranian national, has valid temporary resident status, and is in Canada, they are eligible for these special measures.
