Please see our response to your question, Response # 1: Ifthe applicant submits a work permit extension before it expires and was approved first, the applicant is authorized to work under the valid work permit, The visitor record does not override the work permit status. A visitor record has nothing to do with the work permit, but once the work permit expires, they have status as a visitor until it says they must leave. Those who changed their status to “visitor” are no longer eligible to apply ttom inside [requester] # 2.

As long as the applicant submitted their work permit extension in Canada before it expires even when the visitor record application is approved first, they are on maintained status until a decision is made and applicant is eligible to work.

tHowever, iff work permit receives a refisal, the applicant is no longer eligible to apply for a work permit from inside Canada, but they can still remain to stay in Canada as a visitor. Applying for a Visitor Record does not allow you to continue working after your work permit expires. The visitor record is a status document that provides proof of temporary resident status while in Canada and is not a travel document.
