Ifyou submitted your study permit application before November 1, 2024 you don’t need to meet the field of study requirements The onus is on the applicant to provide sufficient documentation to satisfy an officer that they meet the requirements. If the applicant changed programs ffom what they initially applied for, IRCC recommends that they submit proof'as to what date the change occurred. I am reaching out as a RCIC to seek clarification on the interpretation of the study permit extension exemption for PGWP eligibility. ‘The IRCC manual states: “For study permit extension applications used to complete the same program of study as the study permit application made before November 1, 2024, there is no field-of-study requirement for the PGWP.” Could you please clarify how IRCC defines “same program of study” in this context? Specifically 1. Does the program need to remain the same in both field of study and length to qualify under the exemption? 2. Or is maintaining the same field of study sufficient for the program to be considered the same? 3. Ifa student transitions from a certificate to a diploma within the same field of study, would this be treated as the same program of study for the purposes of PGWP eligibility under this exemption?
