Dear [requester], We are seeking clarification regarding the recent updates on program stacking and PGWP eligibility, particularly in relation to study permits obtained on or after November 1, 2024. We would appreciate your guidance on the following questions: 1. 1. Interpretation of “Study Permits Obtained on or After November 1, 2024" The guidance states: "Program stacking for study permits obtained on or after November 1, 2024." We need clarification on the interpretation of "obtained." Specifically, we have students whose study permits were applied for and approved before November 1, 2024, but they physically received their permits after this date. ‘© * In such cases, how does this affect their eligibility for PGWP stacking? © ‘if these students complete their first PGWP-eligible program and then take a second PGWP-eligible program within the required two-year period, would they still be eligible for a PGWP of up to three years under the new rules? 2. 2. Consecutive Program Rule for Students Who Completed a Program Before November 1, 2024 We have students who completed a program of study before enrolling in our institution. Some of them have now realized that their current program is not PGWP-eligible because their study permit for the new program was obtained after November 1, 2024. © * If such students plan to take another PGWP-eligible program after their current program, how would the consecutive program rule apply? © *if they complete a total of three programs (each one year in length) but only two are PGWP-eligible, would they be able to stack the two eligible programs to determine PGWP duration?
