Please note that a “Bachelor of Laws”, alto commonly known as “Legum Baccalaureus”, is a specific professional degree in the field of law. Equivalences with alternative spelling such as a “Bachelor in Laws" or “Bachelor of Law" will not be considered equivalent to a professional degree. Dear [requester] or [requester] name is ima registered immigration consultant in I seck clarification on the CRS points awarded for a "professional degree" under Express Entry.

1. The CRS system awards 126 or 135 points for a professional degree in specific fields, including law, as stated in the criteria

2. According to IRCC’s guidance on "How to Read Your Report," an ECA indicating "Bachelor of Laws'" (plural) can be counted as a professional degree.

3. However, there is a concern from clients and it is confirmed by some consultants that only equivalencies issued by IQAS explicitly stating "Professional Degree" are accepted for CRS purposes, while a "Bachelor in Laws" or an equivalent worded differently—such as "Bachelor of Law" (singular)—might not qualify for the same points.

Ithas been my experience in my practice that that is not the case, however I would like official confirmation. Could you confirm:

# Isa professional degree equivalency recognized equally regardless of which ECA organization issues it, even if the nomenclature differs?

* Would an ECA stating "Bachelor of Law” (singular) be at risk of not being awarded professional degree points due to word choices employed by different organizations?
