An applicant applying for the pathway to permanent residence is required to hold a document enumerated at subsection 50(1) of

the Regulations, or, if they are unable to obtain a document enumerated at subsection 50(1), provide a document described in

subsection 178(1) and 178(2) of the Regulations.

While itis incumbent on the applicant to satisfy an officer of their identity, the passport does not have to be valid to finalize an

application under the permanent residence pathway for family reunification for Ukrainian nationals

Question: Would IRCC be able to finalize a PR application if the applicant's passport has expired?

Some Ukrainian citizens in Canada are currently unable to renew their passports. [fan applicant had a valid passport when 002060
