The temporary measures to support foreign nationals in response to the crisis in Lebanon are only available to Lebanese nationals and their family members who are already in Canada on a temporary basis and can’t return home at this time. To be eligible for facilitation under the temporary measures to support people affected by the crisis in Lebanon, clients must be: ¢ * Lebanese nationals in Canada with valid temporary resident status © * foreign national family members of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who © *left Lebanon on of after September 29, 2024, and © *are in Canada with valid temporary resident status © * foreign nationals who are affected by the first-generation limit on citizenship as well as their foreign national family members who © * left Lebanon on or after September 29, 2024, and © “are in Canada with valid temporary resident status © * people who left Lebanon with the help of the Government of Canada on or after September 29, 2024 Aclient must hold Lebanese citizenship to be considered a Lebanese national and thus be eligible for these temporary measures. A non-Lebanese client may be eligible for these measures if they meet any other eligibility requirement set out above. For example, clients may be eligible if they arrive as foreign nationals (holding a nationality other than Lebanese) who are family members of Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada who fled Lebanon on or after September 29, 2024, due to the deteriorating security situation in the region. As per the !mmigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA), a foreign national means a person who is not a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, and includes a stateless person. Please note that similar temporary measures are available for Palestinian passport holders and their family members. Please note that the entry requirements are not waived under the above mentioned public policies.
