Canadian Experience Class

One of the three Express Entry programs. For skilled workers with eligible Canadian work experience who plan to live outside Quebec.

  • At least 1 year (1,560 hours) of skilled Canadian work in the last 3 years, TEER 0 to 3. Experience can be in more than one NOC.
  • Work must be gained in Canada while authorized. Remote work counts only if you were physically in Canada and working for a Canadian employer.
  • Self-employment and full-time student work do not count, including co-op. Temporary public policy exception for physicians providing publicly funded medical services in Canada.
  • CLB 7 for TEER 0 or 1. CLB 5 for TEER 2 or 3.
  • No education requirement to qualify. Education can still raise a CRS rank.

What does not count

Self-employment and work gained as a full-time student do not count toward the one-year Canadian work floor. The live CEC page states a temporary public policy for physicians who provided publicly funded medical services in Canada and were invited on or after 25 Apr 2023.
