Official / RED VERIFIEDIRCC expired-permit page uses maintained status, not implied status. A temporary resident who applies to extend authorized stay before it expires can generally remain in Canada until a decision is made.
On a work-permit extension, IRPR s. 186(u) can allow a worker who remains in Canada to keep working until the decision, if they keep the same conditions. IRPR s. 183(5) is the stay rule. For electronic files the maintained-status PDI uses midnight UTC on the expiry date.
