IMM 5476

Use of a Representative

The form that appoints, updates, or cancels a representative.

On the official record

• Complete it only if you are appointing a representative, updating one, cancelling one, replacing one, or withdrawing as a representative.
• A representative who is paid must be authorized: CICC consultant, Canadian law-society lawyer or paralegal, or Chambre des notaires du Québec notary.
• Once appointed, IRCC and CBSA send correspondence to the representative, not to you.

Common mix-ups

• Not required if you have no representative. Do not send a blank form.
• Not IMM 5475. That form only lets someone ask for status information. It does not let them conduct business.

The catch

You remain responsible for the information in the application. Appointing a representative does not get special attention or a faster decision.
