AOR

Acknowledgement of Receipt

The PR file passed completeness and is in the system.

On the official record

• The official AOR is the letter issued after the application passes the R10 completeness check.
• IRCC permanent-residence terms PDI calls this the "acknowledgement of receipt (R10 passed) letter." That is the letter that can support a bridging open work permit if the other BOWP rules are met.
• Help Centre pages say IRCC does not send an AOR until staff open the application and check that it is complete. Status tracking starts after that letter.

Common mix-ups

• Not an approval.
• Not a payment receipt.
• Not the automatic email that says the electronic application was received.

The catch

A payment receipt or an electronic receipt of the eAPR is not an AOR. On Express Entry, the terms PDI says you get an electronic receipt before R10 is passed. That receipt is not the R10 AOR. If a public page and the completeness PDI disagree, the PDI wins.

What people mix up

An AOR is not an approval. It means the file was complete enough to enter processing.
