Official / RED VERIFIED

IRCC requires an ECA for Federal Skilled Worker eligibility if the education is foreign, and to claim CRS points for foreign education. The report must be less than five years old when you complete the profile and when you submit the application.

The terms PDI calls this an equivalency assessment under R73(1). Use an IRCC-designated organization, for immigration purposes.

Practice judgment

Practice judgment

An ECA is not a Canadian diploma and not a licence to practise a profession. A WES or other report for a university admission is not automatically the immigration ECA.

Canadian credentials do not need this report. Foreign credentials do, if you want FSW eligibility or CRS education points.

Labelled judgment. Not the official rule. Not legal advice.
