Proof of work experience

Practice slang: Holy Trinity

Officers reconciling skilled work want a detailed employer letter, T4s, and pay stubs that line up. IRCC does not use this name.

On the official record

• The completeness PDI heading is Proof of work experience. For each claimed job it names a reference or experience letter from the employer as mandatory. That letter should be on letterhead and must include the job title, duties, hours, pay, and dates.
• If the work is in Canada, the same PDI says proof may include T4s and notices of assessment for those years.
• Practice: officers reconciling skilled work want that letter, the T4s, and the pay stubs to line up on duties, hours, pay, and dates. People call that lineup the Holy Trinity. Pay stubs are practice. The PDI does not name them.
• A job title is not a NOC. Duties decide the unit group.

Common mix-ups

• Not an IRCC term. Canada.ca does not require a Holy Trinity.
• Not a fourth document. Notices of assessment appear on the PDI as optional Canadian proof. They are not part of the trinity.
• Not proof that the title on the letter is the right NOC.

The catch

If a public page and the completeness PDI disagree, the PDI wins. Do not treat the nickname as a checklist IRCC published. The named mandatory item is the employer letter. T4s are may-include proof for Canadian work. Pay stubs are practice.

What people mix up

The trinity is three documents: employer letter, T4s, and pay stubs. Do not add a fourth item and call it part of the same set.
